Swegon is pleased to announce that its near and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets have been officially approved by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). This recognition underscores Swegon’s commitment to sustainability and its efforts to align with global climate objectives.
The SBTi has verified Swegon’s net-zero science-based targets for 2050. In the near-term, Swegon has pledged to reduce scope 1 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% by 2030, using 2022 as the base year. Additionally, the company aims to increase its annual sourcing of renewable energy to 100% by 2030.
Furthering its commitment to sustainability, Swegon has also set a target to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions—covering purchased goods, services, and the use of sold products—by 51.6% per MSEK value added by 2030, also based on 2022 levels.
Swegon’s long-term objectives include a 90% reduction in scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions from the 2022 base year and maintaining the active annual sourcing of 100% renewable electricity through 2050.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a globally recognized body that supports businesses in setting ambitious emissions reduction targets in accordance with the latest climate science. The initiative aims to accelerate corporate action to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.
